Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle at Los Angeles. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite finances she managed get her first significant performance in the video online show Rachel's Room playing the lead character. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004, and she shared with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) alongside her. After leaving the show, Grace would like to be on film more frequently, having starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character on Lost for two additional episodes, including the finale of the series. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. As a part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens, she played small parts in her father's movies and co-starred with her older twin brother on Donnie Darko the popular cult movie. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as a lead character actress in Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. The year 2006 was the time she had numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). Following her acclaimed performance as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012).
